certification program that is designed to teach individuals
the digital literacy skills associated with basic computer
and Internet use. The certification was created by
Certiport, Inc. in 2001 to address the need for a
globally-recognized and accepted standard of basic computing
knowledge to be considered fundamental to academic learning
and a minimum requirement for employment in a typical office
setting. The
IC³ certificate is awarded to those individuals that take
and are able to pass three separate exams, titled Computing

Computer Network & Employment Training (CNET)/Job Linkag e
For eight years, the
Computer Network and Employment program has served the residents of
Dorchester Bay. Over 200 adults and youth utilize our three
centers for training, job searches and homework assistance. Our fourth
technology center at Columbia Road Apartments is nearly completed. A fifth
center will be completed at Columbia-Wood and a sixth center will be run at
the new Dudley Village Development.
Seniors Program
The Senior's program has been going on for the past six years
and is operated by Dychell Reeves and one of our own seniors and board member, Mrs. Doris Rose
who got Dorchester Bay’s board to vote for a third day per week. Now
twenty-seven seniors currently meet three times per week from 8:00 am – 1:00
pm. They meet, eat, take trips and exercise to the soulful sounds of James
Brown. The seniors held an election and voted on their new name…..the
“Dorchester Bay R & R (Rock & Roll) seniors!” Participants are Dorchester
Bay resident seniors and others from the surrounding area. Our seniors
participated in a walking tour to lobby for a fifth station on the Fairmount
Line. They attend health and safety workshops, program staff visit shut ins
and assist with transportation, housing advocacy and other social
services. For more information click hereSeniors
