Technology

We now have three technology centers which are extremely popular and are planning a fourth:

Tech Goes Home:

We are part of the City of Boston's Technology Goes Home Program, run by the Digital Bridge Foundation.  Our Technology coordinator Dychell Reeves, trained 174 families from 6 sister organizations in the Uphams/Dudley TGH collaborative. These classes at our commercial building on Dudley and Columbia Rd. provided free computers from the city and HiQ computers. An advanced course, called Tech Goes Home Pro Style, helps people with desktop publishing skills, resume development, and internet literacy and business skills training.  Click here for more info.

CNET:

For eight years, the Computer Network and Employment program has served the residents of Dorchester Bay. Over 60 adults and youth utilize our CNET centers per year for computer training, homework assistance and GED training. We will soon be opening a 4th center on Columbia Road

Geneva Apartments Technology Center:

In this newest, smallest center, with only 8 computers, in the last year we trained 8 after school youth and 5 adults. They are also feeding into the Tech Goes home and advanced CNET classes. Three families in this 47 unit development have received free computers.

Fourth Technology Center at Columbia Road:

We are about to start construction on a fourth center, for which we received HUD funding.  This development houses 134 families.

A Fifth Technology Center, will begin as part of developing Columbia Wood, Brunswick Holborn Apartments.
